Introduction & data controller
This Privacy Policy explains how Brainy Bookstore handles your personal data. The data controller is Brainy LLC, 23 Tumanyan St., Yerevan, Armenia, reachable at info@brainy.am. We process personal data in accordance with the Republic of Armenia Law on the Protection of Personal Data. By using the site you acknowledge the practices described here.
Data we collect
We collect: your phone number (used to sign in); your name; your email address (optional); your shipping address; your order and purchase history; and technical/log data such as IP address, device and browser type, and pages visited. We do NOT collect or store your full payment card data — card details are entered directly on AmeriaBank's secure payment page.
Legal basis & purposes
We process your data on the following legal bases: performance of the contract between you and us (to take and fulfil your orders); compliance with our legal obligations (such as accounting and tax records); and your consent, where required (for example, marketing messages). You may withdraw marketing consent at any time without affecting orders already placed.
How we use it
We use your data to create and manage your account, process and deliver orders, send order confirmations and service notifications, handle returns and customer support, keep required business records, prevent fraud, and — only with your consent — send promotional messages. We do not use your data for automated decisions that produce legal effects on you.
Sharing & third parties
We share data only as needed to run the store: with AmeriaBank / ArCa for payment processing; with ArmSoft Trade 7 for inventory and accounting; with our delivery courier to fulfil shipments; and with our hosting provider that stores the site's data. These parties may process data only on our instructions. We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law.
Cookies
We use essential cookies that are necessary for the site to work — to keep your session, remember the contents of your cart, and maintain authentication. These cannot be switched off. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may break parts of the site.
Data retention
We keep your personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations. As a general rule we retain account and order data for 5 years, in line with Armenian accounting and tax legislation, after which it is deleted or anonymised. You may ask us to delete your account data sooner, subject to records we are legally required to keep.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site and access controls on our systems. Payment card data is never stored on our servers — it is handled on AmeriaBank's secure, PCI-compliant page. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to address any incidents promptly.
Your rights
Under the Republic of Armenia Law on the Protection of Personal Data, you have the right to access your data, to correct inaccurate data, to request deletion, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@brainy.am; we may need to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent personal-data protection authority in Armenia.
Children
The site is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always shown on this page with the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review it periodically; significant changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
